before using blackfriars polyutherane varnish
Ensure surface to be varnished is clean, dry, sound and free from wax, oil or any other contamination.
If wax has been used clean the surface thoroughly with white spirit prior to sanding.
Bare wood should be sanded to a smooth surface, always working with the grain.
Sound previously varnished surfaces should be lightly sanded to provide a key.
Remove dust. Existing varnished surfaces which are unsound or in poor condition can be stripped back to bare timber with a Paint and Varnish Remover.
