before using johnstones blackboard paint
All surfaces to be painted should be sound, clean, dry and free from loose and flaking material.
Previously painted surfaces should be rubbed down with fine waterproof abrasive paper to provide a key.
Avoid the inhalation of dust.
Wear a suitable face mask when dry sanding. Prime bare surfaces with the appropriate Johnstone’s Primer. Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960’s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead.
