Before Applying Polyvine Exterior Wood Varnish

All surfaces must be clean and free from dust, dirt, oil and contamination.

Remove oils/resins from oily hardwoods and resinous softwoods.
Treat new wood with a wood preservative to remove all traces of fungus and mould.

Ensure pre-treatment is compatible and completely dry, before application.  Joints, end grain and glazing beads must be completely sealed.

Water penetration into the timber will produce unsightly water staining and promote fungal growth, beneath the clear varnish.

How To Apply Polyvine Exterior Varnish

Always apply to a test area before starting work.

Care must be taken when applying in high temperature or direct sunlight as this will effect drying time.

Do not apply when rain is imminent. Coating life will be reduced on horizontal surfaces and where the coating is in contact with the ground or pooled water.

Ensure the product is well mixed. Apply evenly using light brush strokes, following the grain of the wood.

Keep a wet edge and avoid overlaps. Use a good quality brush.

Apply the first coat and allow to dry. On new wood dilute the first coat with 10% water.

Sand lightly to obtain the best finish.

Apply three coats.

3 coats of satin must be applied before the dead flat finish to achieve full protection
